Since 1968, the ECF Art Centers have provided adults with developmental disabilities a place to explore their creativity and freedom of expression. At ECF's five art studios located across Los Angeles County, artists with developmental disabilities are encouraged to communicate their personal and creative vision. Talented instructors provide artists with guidance in a variety of media, including painting, drawing, printmaking, digital art, and ceramics. ECF's approach to mentorship and professional development in the arts has been the catalyst for hundreds of artists to achieve their personal and professional goals.
The ECF Art Centers are excited to participate in OPaf for a second year in a row and showcase a selection of works by artists from our San Pedro studio. Our studio space has been closed since March of this year due to the ongoing pandemic. Our mentorship and art instruction has moved to an online platform, a different mode of working for us all. We find ourselves truly embracing the ethos of OPaf and becoming fluid in our operations, working outside our traditional site based studio model, working online and remotely while we continue to support and stay connected with ECF artists.
The ECF Art Center San Pedro supports the studio practice of fifty individual artists. Each artist has the tools they need to express themselves available to them. Their desks are a visual representation of both their individualism as well as their practice. Please enjoy a unique look inside our studio and indirect view of a few of our artists who create in San Pedro. We hope you appreciate a peek at a few work spaces from our San Pedro studio nearly untouched since our closure, and highlighting works by six of our prolific artists. Thank you!
